The Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department sponsors ‘Household Hazardous Waste Collection” events each year across Lincoln.
These collection events WILL accept:
- Heavy Metals: mercury, thermometers, and fluorescent tubes & CFLs
- Solvents: Mineral spirits, paint strippers and thinners, oil based paints, varnishes, stains & waxes.
- Pesticides: weed killers, garden sprays, wood preservatives, roach powder and rat poisons.
It is asked that the products to be disposed of are in their original container with the label intact. Open, leaking or rusted containers should be placed in a clear plastic bag for transportation to a collection site.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collections WILL NOT accept:
- Batteries & Antifreeze
- Explosives & Ammunition,
- Used Oil
- General Household Trash
- Latex Paint will not be accepted
